Projektet mining site

# Thanks for a lovely evening!

Mining Site has learned me a lot and been an incredibly fun job from start to finish. The appearance of the mine on Sunday night was just as I had imagined and better than I dared to hope. I'm incredibly happy that so many people braved the cold (near -20 degrees) and got to experience my installations and performance! Thanks!

I did not go in depth in my presentation of the work in the welcoming, that was a conscious choice, because I wanted to give you the possibillity to create an understanding of the place and work. Those who still want to hear about my thoughts of the work can continue reading here.

The first part of my work has focused on exploring the mine and its surroundings based on history, current use, and my subjective experience of the mine. It is just this work that I brought up here on the blog. Efforts to translate the survey in an interpretation, I have kept to myself, as I said before, to allow you to experience the mine itself and the location.

I have taken up the mine's powerful, and as I understand it, a bit mysterious environment. That I have chosen to highlight by lighting and sound installation. Often my imagination run away with me when I am alone, for several hours, sat inside the mine. I have imagined the place as ambivalent, almost like two different worlds, one of which has become a shablon of the hard work, and the other a fantasy world, a utopia, where no work is done for other than pure pleasure. My thought was that this place, utopia, exist like a bubble in the real world, and that the mine's tunnels act as gates in and out of this. I imagine that we saw the reality on Sunday as a fictional picture, or perhaps a memory, on the rock wall while the utopia workers were genuine and mined music in front of us.

The wonderful with a utopia is that it allows the creator to be omnipotent, but for the same reason it is difficult to share with others. Utopia can only exist in the imagination. That is fascinating in this is that every person who on Sunday went into the mine created his own fantasy world, perhaps in order to explain to himself and to tie together the work, perhaps by the pure pleasure of the imagination.

Finally, I would clearly point out that this is not the correct interpretation of the work, your own interpretation is equally right.

I have hade lots of help in my work, my special thanks to: Per Hüttner, Dag Ahlqvist, Annette Wennerstål, Rory Orman, Samuel Castro, Erika Ahlqvist and last but not least, Madeleine Näs.
